The Digital Supply Chain Platform, provided by DSI, will increase inventory visibility and accuracy and ensure the materials Northern Powergrid needs to maintain its power network are in the right place.
The solution is able to track inventory in real time, capturing each stage of a material request as it passes through the supply chain, including in the warehouse and out in the field.
Northern Powergrid expects to roll out the mobile-first app in Spring 2017.
Northern Powergrid’s logistics manager, Colin Atkinson, said: “Logistics is a huge part of what we do every day to ensure we successfully manage and maintain the region’s power network and keep the lights on for our customers.
“Having a mobile automation solution, which can operate both on and offline, will improve our ability to keep track of materials. It will provide our people with the information they need at their fingertips so they can deliver the projects they are working on as efficiently as possible.”
