New chief financial officer for Murphy
Engineering and construction specialist Murphy has appointed David Burke as its new chief financial officer.
6th October 2016 by Networks
Burke joins Murphy from Serco Group plc where he held a number senior financial roles for over 12 years, most recently as global finance transition director, leading on the development and introduction of a new finance operating model.
Murphy’s chief executive Steve Hollingshead said the appointment is a boost to the senior management team and will help to “effectively deliver the commitments laid out in our ten-year business plan”. Murphy has an ambition to increase turnover to £2bn by 2025 through continued focus on the power, water, rail and natural resources sectors.
Burke will report directly to Hollingshead and will take on responsibility for financial control, planning and reporting.
On confirmation of his appointment, Burke said he was pleased to be joining a “progressive” company “with clear direction for the future and its growth”.
Murphy works extensively with the UK power sector. Recently it completed a major tunnelling project for UKPN which will strengthen the DNO’s resilience.
