The £2.1 million project will increase the reliability of the electricity network for local customers by replacing some existing cables which are due for renewal between Sutton and Beddington.
Nirmal Kotecha, director of capital programme and procurement at UK Power Networks, said: “This project will increase the resilience of the network and ensure that we maintain reliable electricity supplies into the future.
“Electricity supplies are highly reliable and we want to keep it that way. This investment is part of a major multi-million programme of investment this year across the South East to ensure we continue to provide a good service to our local communities.”
UK Power Networks is investing more than £500m in its electricity networks in 2017/18 and more than £4.5 billion over the eight years to 2023 to maintain safe and reliable power supplies for homes and businesses, both now and in the future.
