Beama appoints new vice-president

The trade association for electrical infrastructure technologies has named eco-entrepreneur Patrick Caiger-Smith as its new vice-president.

Beama appoints new vice-president

Caiger-Smith is chief executive and founder of Green Energy Options, a smart home technology and service provider, established in 2006. The company has won numerous accolades for its innovative products including a Shell Springboard regional award in its first year of business and a silver medal in the 2015 International Design Awards for its “Cosy” smart thermostat.

Caiger-Smith has already served as a board member of Beama for three years in which time he has helped the trade association develop links with other industry bodies representing electrical manufacturing. He has also promoted the industry’s role in ensuring a sustainable and energy efficient future.

Beama has existed as a trade association for over 100 years and represents an industry with a turnover of £13 billion a year, employing over 137,000 people

On accepting his appointment as vice-president, Caiger-Smith commented: “As we see advances in smart home technology and battery storage, Beama will continue to play a leading role in helping to shape technology adoption and regulation in emerging market sectors which provide greater control and energy efficiency in the home.”
