Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) has completed a £2.8 million substation upgrade in Perth.
The project will connect approximately 3,000 additional homes, Scotland's newest secondary school and other amenities being constructed as part of a development on the Inveralmond Industrial Estate.
3.5km of underground cables have also been installed to increase the security of supply to surrounding properties in the area, improving the resilience of the existing electricity network currently delivering power to local homes and businesses.
John Thoms, project delivery manager at SSEN, said: "We're delighted to complete the construction and energisation of Inveralmond Primary substation, delivering essential electricity supplies to power homes and businesses for years to come.
"Over the next decade, the Bertha Park community is set to grow substantially, and at SSEN we had to ensure the electricity network was equipped to cope with this increase in demand."
