£3m investment to upgrade network in North Ayrshire

SP Energy Networks is carrying out a £3 million upgrade to its electricity network in North Ayrshire.

The year-long project will allow for vital upgrades to the network which supplies around 31,000 homes and businesses in the Three Towns, Kilwinning and Irvine areas.

Following analysis of the networks' fault history and performance the network operator is installing new 33kV cables to modernise the existing infrastructure to provide a more reliable power supply.

Angus Campbell, Ayrshire & Clyde South District general manager at SP Energy Networks said: "We are committed to future-proofing the network for our customers in North Ayrshire. We are working hard to ensure there are minimal disruptions to customers during the completion of projects and always aim to keep local residents informed as work progresses."
