SP Energy continues work on Scotland connections project

Construction teams at SP Energy Networks have battled through tough terrain to deliver another key stage of the South West Scotland Connections Project.

The project involves a number of individual connections from windfarms and new infrastructure to enable energy to be collected and fed to the national grid.

In the latest development, the newly constructed overhead line between Glenglass and Blackhill substations in Ayrshire was successfully energised.

The move meant both Whiteside Hill and Sanquhar Wind Farms were able to connect to the transmission network. According to the company, the South West Scotland Connection Project will enable a significant number of wind farms to connect to the national supply.
