Leep Utilities, a licensed independent distribution network operator (IDNO), has won the contract to operate the electricity networks for six sites operated by commercial kitchen company FoodStars.
FoodStars provides flexible kitchen space that can be rented by food and drink vendors, including so-called "dark kitchens" preparing meals for delivery.
The sites are in London, Birmingham, Leeds and Manchester, with all being energised by the end of March.
Leep is a multi-utility network owner and operator, which owns and operates regulated and non-regulated utility networks, including electricity, cold and hot water, heating and cooling.
As well as its IDNO licence, since July 2019 it has held an Ofgem Independent Gas Transporter (IGT) license to allow the adoption of gas networks .
Leep was established as a joint venture between the Peel Group, a large private real estate investment and infrastructure company, and Ancala Partners, an independent investment management firm.
The business was launched in May 2017.
It has a portfolio of sites across the country including Peel Group-developed Media City, the technology and media hub home to the BBC and ITV in Manchester, Peel Group's Liverpool Waters scheme and Canary Wharf in London.
Leep recently energisation of Canary Wharf Group's new Wood Wharf district, after securing the deal in July 2018.
In July, Peel Group awarded Leep Utilities the contract to adopt the electricity network at its Liverpool Waters scheme, a £5.5bn regeneration project in the city's historic docklands.
Leep will work closely with Ingenious Power Engineering (IPE), a designer, consultant and project manager, on the FoodStars project.
